Pre-Mite Hockey

Pre-Mite Class

Pre-Mites is for players passing through the Hockey Tot class, Learn to Skate Tots 2 class, Pre-Alpha class or can skate the length of the ice with a push and glide motion (not a marching or walking motion). Class covers all the basic skating techniques used in the game of hockey along with an introduction to puckhandling, passing and shooting all in a fun and educational atmosphere. This class is intended to give kids the basic introduction to the sport of ice hockey so they may continue their education of the game for years to come.  Classes are 45 minutes.

Skills Covered:

  • Forward skating / balance / edges
  • Stopping / hockey turns / forward crossovers
  • Backward skating / stickhandling / passing / shooting

Equipment Required:

  • HECC certified hockey helmet with face mask
  • Elbow pads and shin guards
  • Hockey gloves
  • Hockey pants
  • Shoulder pads
  • Hockey skates
  • Hockey stick

Fall / Winter / Spring / Summer sessions

Summer begins in early June 
Note: Friday evening and Saturday morning classes fill very quickly so register early.  Classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment.

The fall session of Pre-Mite ends the week of December 9. Registration for winter begins December 1.

Registration for the winter session can be done starting December 1 via submitting a registration form or online through the Rolling Meadows Park District website at  Click HERE to register online. Online registration available Dec 1 - Jan 4.  After January 4 registration can only be done via submitting a registration form.  Registrations over the phone will not be accepted.  Class schedule is listed on the registration form.
